Kasthuri Sreenivasan Trust was established by Late Padmabhushan K.Sreenivasan in the year 1981 for the promotion of art and literature in India in general and in Coimbatore in particular. In order to fulfill these objectives, the Trust has undertaken the following activities:
A biannual cash prize has been instituted, to be known as Thirumathi Rangammal Prize named after the mother of the Founder Trustee. It is awarded for the best Tamil novel published in India. In order to popularise the great classics of Tamil in other languages, a verse translation of Tirukkural in English was published by the Trust. A verse translation of Sundara Kandam of Kamba Ramayanam was published and it was released at the Kamban festival in Madras. These books were translated by Sri Kasthuri Sreenivasan and the publications are low priced so as to reach a large number of interested people.
The Trust has been actively functioning for the purposes for which it was founded. The Trust has been frequently conducting painting competitions, workshops for students and public free of cost. The Trust also conducts painting exhibitions, providing cost free exhibition halls and publicity to the concerned artists. So far 159 exhibitions have been held from the year 2003 to March 2017 under various banners.
The Trust has instituted annual awards in the year 2008 to students studying fine art subjects known as MRS.BARBARA SREENIVASAN MEMORIAL AWARDS FOR FINE ARTS.
